Sailing days between ports

The transit time depends on the distance the ship really sails and on its speed. The calculator gives the port to port distance over the sea lanes, through the canals you allow, and the sailing days at the speed you enter.

Vessel ETA and ETD

For a whole rotation, the Voyage Estimator gives the voyage duration and the ETA and ETD of every call from the departure date, the speed of each leg and the port stays and turnaround time, in each port's own local time if you wish. Change a speed or a port stay and every later date moves with it.

Canal transits and any waiting are counted in the voyage days too.

Plan the schedule

To plan a service, Schedule Planning shows every voyage on one board, with the ETA, ETB and ETD of each call, the berth windows and the delays.

Port stay and turnaround time

The port stay of each call, and any waiting before it berths, are part of the voyage duration. Shorten the vessel's port turnaround time and every later arrival and departure time moves with it, so the sailing schedule can be checked before it is published.

FAQs

Transit Time Calculator, answered.

How do I calculate sailing days between ports?

You need the sea distance and the speed. Pick the two ports above, enter the speed in knots, and the calculator shows the days at sea.

How do I calculate the port to port sea distance?

Use the distance along the sea lanes, not a straight line. Pick two ports above for the distance in nautical miles and kilometres, on a map.

Does the transit time include port stays?

The calculator gives the days at sea. The Voyage Estimator adds the port stays, canal transits and waiting for the full voyage days.

What does a delay cost?

Enter the waiting as idle days. The estimator shows the idle cost, the hire and the fuel of those days, and moves every later ETA.

Is it free?

Yes. The distance and transit time calculator is free, with no sign-up.
