Everything a voyage costs, worked out for you.
A voyage cost calculator built for container ships and liner rotations. Pick a vessel, drop the ports, and every figure fills in, down to the cost per TEU. Each one stays editable, so the estimate is yours.
Real sea routes
Actual sea passages over a routing network of 1,300+ ports, never a straight line across the map.
Canal transits
Suez, Panama and Kiel routed automatically, with their dues as line items you can change.
Bunker by fuel grade
Burn from the vessel's speed and consumption curve, split by grade and priced per grade.
Leg-wise bunker by speed
Give each leg its own speed: its bunker burn and cost follow the vessel's consumption at that speed, leg by leg.
Port costs from your tariff
Every port call priced from your own port tariff, so the voyage cost matches what you pay.
P&L per TEU
Total cost, cost per TEU, revenue and margin for the voyage, with charter hire and idle days included.
Compare routings and vessels
Up to five options side by side: different routings, or one trade sailed by different vessels, to fix the most suitable vessel for the trade.
Deviation cost calculator
What an extra port call costs on a planned route: the added distance and days, the extra cost, the revenue and the profit.
Weather checks
Check the route against the weather and storms before you commit to it.
Ready to present
A presentation for your manager or client in one click, as PDF or PowerPoint, and the figures in Excel.
One screen from rotation to result.
The route on the map, the itinerary with its ETAs, and the voyage summary update together as you work.
- Your own vessels, with their speed and consumption tables, kept for the next estimate
- Fuel prices by grade and port costs from your tariff, filled in for every call
- Itinerary dates and sea days worked out from the speed and the distance

An estimate in four steps.
Pick the vessel
Choose one from your fleet, or add it once with its capacity, speed and consumption.
Drop the ports
Click them on the map or type their names. The sea route and canals work themselves out.
Set fuel and costs
Fuel prices by grade, charter hire and other costs. Port costs come from your tariff.
Calculate and share
See the cost and P&L per TEU, compare options, and send the presentation.
The container port cost of every call, from your own tariff.
After bunkers, port costs are often the largest cost of a liner voyage. The estimator prices each container port call from your port tariff, so the voyage cost and the cost per TEU are right before the ship sails.
Try it free for 30 days.
The full estimator on the web and on your phone, with your own vessel and port tariff masters, voyage comparison, templates, weather checks and presentations. Nothing to pay today; the subscription starts only if you carry on after the trial.

When you want schedule planning and bunker procurement too, your company moves to the full Stowlines platform with nothing to re-key.
What is a container voyage estimator?
A tool that works out what a liner voyage costs before the ship sails: the sea distance and days between the ports of the rotation, the bunker burn and its cost, port and canal costs, charter hire, and the result per TEU. Stowlines does it on a live map, with your own vessels and port tariffs.
Where does the container port cost come from?
From your own port tariff: every call is priced with the charges that port makes, such as port dues, pilotage, towage, mooring, berth hire and agency fees, and the calls add up to the port cost of the voyage.
Is it for container ships or for dry bulk?
It is built for container ships and liner rotations: port rotations, slot capacity in TEU and the cost per TEU. Dry bulk voyage estimators work from cargo quantity and the time charter equivalent (TCE) instead.
Can we use the Voyage Estimator on its own?
Yes. It is a standalone module with its own sign-in. When you want the full platform, your company is upgraded in place: vessels, port costs and templates carry straight over.
Where do the sea distances come from?
From a global maritime routing network of 1,300+ ports, with Suez, Panama and Kiel transits routed automatically. Every figure is an actual sea passage.
Where do the bunker and port costs come from?
Bunkers from the vessel's own speed and consumption figures and your fuel prices by grade; port costs from your own port tariff. Every figure stays editable.
Can the bunker cost be worked out leg by leg at different speeds?
Yes. Each leg can have its own speed. The bunker burn of that leg follows the vessel's speed and consumption table at that speed, and its cost follows the prices of the fuel grades, so slow steaming on one leg and a faster leg after it are each costed as sailed.
Can we compare vessels for the same trade?
Yes. Save the trade as a template with each vessel you are considering, then compare the templates: the voyage cost, cost per TEU and P&L of each vessel on the same rotation are set side by side, so you can fix the most suitable vessel for the trade. Different routings compare the same way.
What does the deviation cost calculator do?
It works out what an extra port call costs on a route you planned: the distance and days it adds, the extra cost, the revenue of the cargo loaded there and the profit or loss of the call, so you can decide whether the deviation pays.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The same estimator has touch screens for the phone, with your routes, vessels and presentations.
