Vessel voyage estimator

Vessel voyage estimator for container ships

A ship voyage calculator built for container vessels and feeders: enter the vessel and the port rotation, and see what the voyage costs and what it earns before the ship sails.

What a vessel voyage estimator does

A voyage estimate brings together everything a voyage costs: the sea route and its distance, the sea and port days, the fuel burnt, the port costs, the canal dues and the charter hire. Stowlines works these out together, so changing one port or one speed updates the whole estimate.

It is made for liner rotations, on one vessel or a whole trade: a container ship on a long-haul service or a feeder calling a string of regional ports.

Vessel costing, figure by figure

Every figure of the vessel costing is shown and stays yours to change: the bunker cost by fuel grade, the port cost of each call, the canal dues of each transit, the hire for the voyage days and any other cost. The voyage budget is then the total, the cost per TEU, the cost per nautical mile and the cost per voyage day.

Add the freight of each leg and the estimate becomes a voyage P&L, with the revenue, the margin and the profit or loss per TEU.

Compare before you commit

Compare up to five options side by side: different routings, or one trade sailed by different vessels. It shows which voyage costs less and which vessel suits the trade, before you fix the schedule.

An online vessel voyage estimator

It runs online, in the browser and on the phone: a marine voyage cost estimator and vessel voyage costing tool for commercial vessels in container trades. Use it as a ship voyage budget calculator, a vessel voyage expense estimator or a scenario calculator: change a port, a speed or a price and the voyage cost analysis updates at once.

FAQs

Vessel Voyage Estimator, answered.

How do I calculate the voyage cost of a container vessel?

List what the voyage is made of: the vessel, its speed and consumption, the port rotation, the fuel prices, the port tariffs, the canals on the way and the charter hire. Enter them in the Voyage Estimator and it works out the voyage cost and the cost per TEU for you.

How do I work out a vessel's daily hire cost in a voyage?

Enter the charter hire per day. The estimator counts the sea days, port days and any idle days of the voyage and shows the hire as its own line, and the cost per voyage day of the whole voyage.

How do I prepare a container vessel voyage budget?

Build the voyage in the estimator, then save it as an estimate or a template. The result is a budget with every cost as its own line, ready to share as a PDF, a PowerPoint or in Excel.

Does it work for feeder vessels?

Yes. Any container vessel, from a feeder on a short regional rotation to a large ship on a long-haul service, with its own speed and consumption table.
